Maulana,Mulayam finally gets time to placate riot victims

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party ( SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav met a delegation of Muslim leaders and victims, and heard the cause of distress from various sectors for allegedly pay no attention to the sticky situation of riot affected people in Muzaffarnagar.

The delegation, consist of Jamiat Ulama- i- Hind president Maulana Arshad Madani and several other Muslim member of the clergy and riot victims, called on the two leaders and demanded compensation for the families of those who had gone astray in the repercussion of the communal violence of August- September 2013.

SP leader Ashu Malik, who led the delegation says that “We have demanded the state government to look into the case of riot victims benevolently, treat those missing as dead and give compensation to their families.”

Maulana Arshad Madni believes that Muzaffarnagar insurgence occurred due to failure of the local administration. Both Mulayam and Akhilesh guaranteed them that their demands will be looked into. “We appreciate the work done by the state government for Muzaffarnagar riot victims. “He also said that the demands like compensation and government job for the kith and kin of missing people, will be announced in case of those who died
Another section of Muslim clerics, however, criticize the SP leaders as” political gimmick “.

Maulana Amir Rashid Madani, a leader of Ulema Council, compared the Akhilesh government with the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat.
“The organisations which would like to pardon Modi for 2002 riots in Gujarat are also close to Akhilesh. We believe that Muzaffarnagar riots were not much different from Gujarat riots. They says that few maulanas may pardon Mulayam and Akhilesh but the Muslims of the state have seen the real face of the SP government.

“Government- sponsored riots leave thousands of Muslims on the streets but these people have no time to get to the bottom of their problems.”

“Every organisation and political party is trying to cheat the riot victims. None of them is candidly interested in making the life of refugees more humane. Their children are still dying in refugee camps. But the government is driving them away and forcing them to spend nights under the open sky. We should have refrained from doing this kind of politics.” said a noted Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad.
