(Siasat News): Eminent scholar, social and the senior leader of Jamat-e-Islami Hind Maulana Mohd. Abdul Aziz breathed his last at his residence situated at Vadi Huda. He was 89.
He is bereaved by wife, a son and three daughters. He was one of the oldest leaders associated with Jamat-e-Islami where he was always there in tougher times and was especially instrumental in Jamat’s movements in Southern India.
He remained on the post of Naib Amir of the Jamat from 1990 to 2003. Earlier, he had served the Jamat in the same capacity in A.P. Odisha, Coastal Andhra and Tamil Nadu. He was the member of Majlis-e-Shura since 1972.
He was arrested during emergency and was jailed where he had to face many hardships. He hailed from Khammam. He was also the founder-member of Movement for Peace and Justice for Andhra Pradesh.
His namaz-e-Janaza was offered on March 17 after namaz-e-zohar at Jamia Darul Huda followed by burial at qabrastan Jalpally,Pahaadi Shareef Road.
