RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday met Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Syed Arshad Madani and held deliberations on the current political situation in the country. The meeting took place at “Keshav Kunj” in Jhandewalan, the RSS headquarters in the national capital and lasted around one-and-half hours.
Reacting upon the meeting, Maulana Syed Salman Hussain Nadvi former member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board welcomed the move and asked to continue the dialogue and deliberate different community issues on national and international levels in the meetings.
Highlighting the role played by Muslims in Indian Independence, Maulana Nadvi claimed that freedom from Britishers was possible only because Muslims of India struggled for it taking along the Hindu leaders of India, like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.
Maulana Nadvi said Hindus and Muslims must talk to each other and bridge the gaps. Muslims must continue talking with hardcore Hindus. Citing the example of serat-e-tayyaba sallalahu alaihi wa sallam Maulana said Prophet Mohammed sallallahu alaihi wa sallam had also had talks with Jews and mushriks during his times and entered into various agreements.
Maulana Nadvi said though late Maulana Arshad’s move is a good one. However, he suggested that the talks should be done live, not in closed room. He suggested that such meetings should also be held with PM Narendra Modi, UP CM Adityanath, Home Minister Amit Shah and other policy makers as well. That way we can take part in the development of the country, he added.
