The movement for 12 percent reservation initiated by news editor Mr. Amer Ali Khan under the patronage of Siasat editor Mr. Nawab Zahed Ali Khan, keeping in view the low representation of Muslims in educational and economic fields and government services is commendable. The movement will surely bear fruits in the near future. These views were expressed by President All India Muslim Conference Maulana Ghousavi Shah in a press statement. He further added that the newly formed Telangana remained backward due to the negligence of rulers of the past. This negatively affected minorities especially Muslims.
Maulana said since TRS government of Telangana is issuing notifications, one after another, to fill vacant government posts; mounting pressure to implement 12% reservations is warranted. Formation of BC Commission after submission of Sudhir Commission of Enquiry report will take time, hence government should issue ordinance and implement 12% reservations.
Maulana Ghousavi Shah asserted that the movements run by Siasat for the welfare and prosperity of the people had always been successful, similarly reservation movement would also be successful. He hoped that the movement would be successful in mounting pressure on government.
