Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair at Maulana Azad National Urdu University launched the Azad Forum for Creative Thought on the 19th of November. The Chief Guest for the programme of the launch was Prof. Hameed Khan, Director, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Mr. A.K. Mohanty, IPS, Advisor to Governor of Telangana was the Guest of Honour, Dr. Khwaja Md. Shahid, Pro Vice Chancellor presided over the function.
The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair initiated the setting up of the Forum to encourage students and provide them with a platform for co-curricular developmental activities. Mr. Mohanty in his address advised the students to model themselves on principles of honesty, responsibility and self denial towards the cause of general welfare.
Prof. Hameed Khan’s talk was scintillating and evoked great response from the students. He evaluated Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s personality and its relevance; and expressed his appreciation that MANUU was serving the twin causes of reviving the value points of Indian history and working for the development of Urdu.
Dr. Khwaja Shahid appreciated the objectives of the Forum and expressed his confidence that the Forum would add special dimensions to the students’ live on the campus. He spoke about Maulana Abul Kalam Azad as a dynamic leader of the Nation and advised the students to study him and emulate his example.
Students of Dept. of English presented a play in English, depicting scenes from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s work India Wins Freedom. The play was scripted by students of Dept. of English. The play was very well received. Two presentations were made related to student activities on the MANUU campus. One was the release of ‘Samved’ (Delhi) a journal in Hindi where the full issue consisted of articles written by students of MANUU. The second presentation was of ‘Justajoo’, a students’ Wall Magazine.
Mr. Mir Ayoob Ali Khan, Senior Consultant, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair and Prof. Amina Kishore, Professor, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
