Hyderabad: Justice B. Subhashan Reddy, Lokayukta, Telangana State and AP, paid rich tributes to Maulana Azad, frontline leader of the Freedom Struggle and First Education Minister of Independent India, today and described him as the founder of modern education system in the country.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the opening of eight-day long Azad Day Celebrations Justice Subhashan Reddy said that the decisions taken by the Maulana have begun paying dividends long time ago. He was the proponent of the free education system in the country and also the source behind setting up institutions that have been serving the nation well since their inception. It was him, the Justice said, who foresaw the significance of setting institutions such as IITs, the UGC and the national Academies. “The graduates of the IITs as we know are forming the bulk of the main force behind technological revolution in India and the developed world,” he said. He spoke about the Ganga-Jamni (Cosmopolitan) nature of the culture which he said Hyderabad is a representative. He appreciated the work being done by Maulana Azad National Urdu University in promoting education in the backwaters of Hyderabad.
Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, said that the University would do everything in its capacity to further develop the School to serve the local community.
Dr Kafeel Ahmed, Principal MANUU School, welcomed audience. The students of the School presented several educational and entertaining skits which were hugely appreciated by the large of audience that had gathered there.
