Matt Damon to star in ‘The King of Oil’

Washington: Hollywood actor Matt Damon is all set to star as notorious billionaire Marc Rich in the upcoming film ‘The King of Oil’.

According to Variety, Damon is teaming up with actor John Krasinski who is producing this film with his company Sunday Night Productions.

The filming is in its early stages.

Marc Rich, the billionaire businessman the founder of company commodities company Glencore was indicted in 1983 on 65 criminal counts which included tax evasion.

He was pardoned in 2000 by President Bill Clinton on his last day in office.

He is notorious for making controversial oil deals with Iran during when the country was undergoing through a period of hostage crisis.

He was living in Switzerland when he was indicted by the US government.

The ‘Bourne’ star and Krasinski earlier had teamed up for ‘Manchester by the Sea’.

The film is based on “The King of Oil: The Secret Lives of Marc Rich,” a biography authored by Daniel Ammann.

The film is being produced by Universal Pictures, while Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse have adapted the screenplay. (ANI)
