Massive landslides hit Chamoli

Uttarakhand, August 22: Several houses flattened in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district due to massive landslides on Sunday.

Landslide occurred in Chandoli and Karchuna villages of Chamoli Pokhri block due to heavy rains on Sunday.

Several houses have been flattered and farmlands were destroyed due to landslides in the two villages.

On the other hand, a man was killed in Pauri district on Sunday when a stone fell off from a cliff due to landslide.

According to the information, the incident occurred after a rock fell at a house located on the old road in Srinagar-Garhwal area of Pauri district.

Heavy rains have lashed many places in Uttarakhand. The water level of Alaknanda and Mandakini River in Rudraprayag have increased significantly.

Badrinath National Highway has been disrupted due to landslides at many places.

Many people are trapped on the way due to landslide in some places of Uttarkashi. 15 meter of road near Rana Chatti has been damaged on the Delhi Yamunotri
National Highway after falling of debris. Traffic has been stopped on the route.

Local residents as well as pilgrims are facing considerable difficulties.
