China : About 11 regions have been destructed due to heavy rainfall that brought massive floods, killing 56 people and about 22 people were reported missing according to the sources.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs a total of 27,000 houses have become debris and about 37,000 were severely damaged due to rains, landslides and hailstorms since June 29 in the following regions of Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The direct economic losses calculated by the Ministry is estimated to be close to 25.27 billion yuan (USD 3.72 billion).
Following the events that have destructed most of the regions, the Chinese Government has released disaster relief of 1.88 billion yuan (USD 270 million) for the regions destructed due to disaster in these 20 regions said the sources.
The Chinese National Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Ministry have sent help to heavily destructed areas in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and Guizhou.
About 3,000 police forces have been sent too to the region of Hunan. The recent recording of the water level in Xiangjiang River, a major Yangtze tributary reported by the Changsha station was 39.51 meters the highest ever recorded after the massive floods in 1998 which brought the water levels to 39.18 meters, said the sources.
