Hyderabad: A massive fire broke out at Yousuf Bazaar (Nayapul), a business area of old city, on Monday morning, in which two footwear godowns was gutted in fire. The fire was so intense that the fire fighting team had a tough time dousing the fire. Damages are believed to be around Rs. 1 crore.
According to sources the Mir Chowk police received the information at 9:15 am that smoke is emanating from the two-storied building at Yousuf Bazaar adjacent to Chatta Bazaar. Within a short span of time, the fire engulfed two footwear godowns. 6 fire engines were called to put off the flames.
The incident stirred nearby areas. Fire gutted the godowns of Modern Trading Company and Happy Trading Company. Hyderabad water Works provided more than 15 tankers to the fire fighting team to put off the flames.
Traffic remained disrupted at Chatta Bazaar, Nayapul and the surrounding areas due to the presence of large number of fire engines, police vehicles and water tankers. The mishap is believed to have occurred due to short circuit. A case has been registered by the Mir Chowk police on the complaint made by godown owners Mohammed Taher Husain and Mohammed Akram Ali.
