Massive explosion rocks Iraqi capital

Baghdad, September 12: A powerful car bomb has reportedly been set off near Iraqi health ministry in central Baghdad.

The blast occurred at the Bab al-Muadham district at noon today, in an area close to the health ministry and next to the former site of the country’s defense ministry, which is now being used as an Iraqi army base, AFP reported.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The attack came following days of unrest and sporadic bomb attacks across the country which have claimed the lives of more than hundreds of people.
