Hyderabad: Six unidentified, masked men attacked 23-year-old, Mohammed Rahmat, with acid. Rahmat, a fruit seller who hails from Sadasivpet in Medak, is being treated for severe acid burns at Osmania General Hospital.
According to Rahmat he was returning from a fruit farm at Malapad on his two wheeler, when six people chased him and threw something on him. At first Rahmat believed it to be colour. However it began to itch, so Rahmat went to nearby dhaba and washed himself with cold water. He then realised that it was not colour but acid thrown on him.
His uncle Mukhtar shifted him to Osmania Hospital. Rahmat’s sister Sofia Begum told that Rahmat has suffered 37 per cent burns and will recover soon.
A case has been registered at Sadasivapet police station. Investigations are underway.
