Masked gang breaks into coop bank; decamp with Rs 60000

Tiruchirappalli,March 12:A four-member masked gang robbed rs.60000 cash from the Primary Agricultural Cooperative bank near here after tying up the watchman, police said today.

The gang used a gas cutting machine to open the door and grill of the locker around midnight last night.

Police said the gangsters, however, could not break open the locker as residents, hearing the noise, rushed to the spot, forcing them to flee.

But they managed to break open the manager’s table and decamped with the Rs 60000 kept inside.

People rescued the watchman, police said, adding, a team has been formed to catch the gangsters.
