As part of its campaign for protection of Waqf properties, Deccan Waqf Protection Society has saved a masjid from demolition. The greedy and corrupt officials of Waqf board had adopted criminal negligence against the conspiracies to demolish an inhabited masjid. But thanks to the vigilance and timely action of Mr. Zahed Ali Khan editor Siasat the masjid was saved from demolition. Editor Siasat sent a delegation of Deccan Waqf Protection Society to Nalgonda district.
It is said that the National Highways Authority had planned to demolish Masjid Mohammedia in connection with widening of national highway no 9 (present 65) and was about to act upon the plan when the delegation of Deccan Waqf protection Society reached Kuntloor village and on the direction of Mr. Zahed Ali Khan called Waqf Board officials’ attention towards the matter. But when Waqf Board itself endorses to the destruction of Waqf properties then the existence of waqf properties will surely be in danger.
So Mr. Osman Al-Hajari and secretary M A Basith former corporator intervened in time and AP Waqf Tribunal ordered an interim stay on land acquisition process. Though the Waqf Board chairman, prompted by Deccan Waqf Protection Society, filed petition in the tribunal and obtained stay order but the leaders of Deccan Waqf Protection Society allege slackness on part of Waqf Board chairman and staff.
