The administrative committee members of Masjid Omer Farooq informed Siasat that the society of OU employees colony has illegally sold masjid land and demolished the boundary wall yesterday. The colony spread over 64.7 acre land has 5 masajid and 5 graveyards. According to collectorate record the 5 masajid and 5 graveyards are on 9 acre land.
Masjid Omer Farooq was a Qutub Shahi mosque which was reconstructed later. University Employees Union Housing Society in connivance with GHMC, Waqf Board and police department gobbled up 360 sqyd land of the masjid. The masjid land was actually 1700 sqyd but the land grabbers occupied 360 sqyd land worth 90 lakhs and only 1366 sqyd remained under the masjid.
The administrative committee members claimed that land grabbers have demolished the boundary wall of the masjid and when they went to lodge a complaint, a prejudiced sub inspector belonging to Golconda police station used foul and abusive language against them.
