Masjid in Ayodhya is like a temple in Makkah, Vatican city: Yogi Adityanath

BJP’s MP Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday refused to accept the proposal of an out-of-court settlement concerning the Ayodhya issue.

The BJP’s MP reacted to the suggestion between Hashim Ansari, main litigant in the case, and Mahant Gyan Das, Akhara Parishad Head and pooh-poohed the proposal of constructing both a mosque and a temple in the disputed site.

As per reports in TOI, Yogi was at Shahjahanpur to attend a sant sammelan – meeting of ascetics, said to the media persons, “Just as a temple cannot come up in Makkah -Madina or Vatican City, Ayodhya cannot have a mosque”. He further said that Ayodhya, “the land of Sanatan Dharma,” is a sacred city, the birthplace of Lord Ram.

“Hashim Ansari and Mahant Gyan Das are making statements they should not be making. If they want to construct both a temple and a mosque in Ayodhya, why have they proposed a high partition wall? They agree that there should be a 100-foot-high wall between the temple and mosque, when they should be concentrating on removing walls between the two.”

Adityanathn stated that the Allahabad High Court had also approved that the disputed site was the birthplace of Lord Ram.

On Monday, Hashim Ansari, and Akhara Parishad chief Mahant Gyan Das had announced a formula of building a Mosque and temple on the 70-acre disputed land with a 100-ft wall between them to resolve the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute.
