Masjid abutting Falaknuma Palace uninhabited, temple inhabited

Masjid Falaknuma palace is without repair and whitewash for the past 24 years. The Masjid, which was built by Sir Viqar-ul-Umra at the time of construction of Falaknuma, is located at an altitude of 100 feet at the left side of Falaknuma entrance. But the Masjid is almost uninhabited today as there are no steps leading to Masjid. As a result only one person who is the khadim of the Masjid offers Namaz in the Masjid. The Masjid which is looked after by Nizam Trust is in very precarious condition and needs repair and whitewash.

Surprisingly a temple has been constructed at a short distance from the Masjid inside the premises of Falaknuma palace. Stone steps lead to the temple. According to local sources, a local Corporator constructed the steps through his fund and according to another source local non-Muslims collected fund and constructed the steps. Whatever be the truth. If steps can be made to reach the temple, why the same can’t be made to reach Masjid Falaknuma?

Nizam Trust, Waqf Board and Muslims of Hyderabad are equally responsible for neglect of Masjid Falaknuma.
