The mortal remains of Sub-Inspector Siddaiah were laid to rest with full State Honours at his native Jadcherla town of Mahbubnagar district on Wednesday.
Siddaiah had succumbed to the bullet injuries which he sustained during a shootout with two alleged SIMI operatives in Janakipuram of Nalgonda district a few days ago. One constable Nagaraj was killed on the spot while three others, including Siddaiah, were injured in the incident.
Hundreds of people, including ministers, legislators and senior police officials paid their respects to Siddaiah, before his body was taken out in a large procession to the graveyard at Zohar prayers. Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Dr C Lakshma Reddy, Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy and DGP Anurag Sharma were among those who paid their last tributes. Hundreds of people participated in his ‘Namaz-e-Janaza’ offered at Mecca Masjid of Badepally. He was buried in the graveyard attached to Madarsa Madinatul Uloom. Police fired three rounds in the air as a mark of respect and salute to the act of bravery. (INN)
