Chandigarh: A married Delhi woman was gang-raped by three men and later dumped on road in Haryana’s Sonipat district.
The incident occurred around 3.30 am on early Saturday morning, Indiatoday reports.
According to sources, the victim, along with her husband and daughter where returning home after having dinner at a roadside eatery (dhaba) in Murthal when their motorbike ran out of fuel forcing the family to walk home.
The victim was grabbed by three men travelling in a truck who stopped near her watching her walk alone.
The victim was left behind since the husband and daughter were walking at a faster pace, she was walking slowly behind them.
The accused forcefully grabbed and took her towards Ballabhgarh in the truck, and took turns raping her.
The men overpowered the victim when she tried to escape. They later dumped her at a road back at Murthal.
In her complaint, the victim shared the truck’s registration number and also the names of the accused, who have been identified as Vijay, Sonu and Sumer.
“We have registered the case and have arrested one of the accused, Vijay from Shila Kheri area of Jind. He was produced in the court which has remanded him to police custody. The other two accused will be arrested soon,” Murthal Investigating Officer Manisha said.
