Marriages of minor Muslim girls racket: Police custody of Mumbai Qazi extended

Hyderabad: Probe into the marriages of minor Muslim girls with Arab Sheikhs is in progress. Falaknuma Police produced Fareed Ahmed Khan (Chief Qazi, Mumbai), Munawar Ali (Dy. Qazi, Mumbai) and Travel Agent, Ahmed before the First Addl. Metropolitan Sessions Judge and requested him to grant extension of their police custody. The judge granted an extension for three days.

Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani, Addl. Inspector of Police Chatrinaka proceeded to Mumbai along with these three accused persons.

It was reported that the officials failed to get relevant documents from Mumbai since Govt. offices had holidays. The details of the Qazis are available in the Dept. of Minorities Welfare in Maharashtra State.

Mr. Mohammed Tajuddin Ahmed, ACP of Falaknuma told that Chief Qazi of Mumbai, Fareed Ahmed Khan is the kingpin of this racket. He was arranging the marriages of minor Muslim girls with the Sheikhs in connivance with Dy. Qazi Munawar Ali.

It was revealed that Fareed Ahmed Khan used to receive money through Western Union and send fake marriage certificates and other relevant documents to Ministry of External Affairs through courier.

Police team will reach Mumbai today to get the documents pertaining to online transfer of Money. It may be mentioned that South Zone Police of Hyderabad had arrested these persons in connection with arranging marriages of minor Muslim girls with Omani citizens and they were sent to jail for 6 days. Police has started investigations taking them into custody.
