Marriage with Lalu’s daughter not politically motivated, says Tej Pratap

Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav’s grandnephew Tej Pratap on Friday insisted that his engagement to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Raj Lakshmi was a purely personal matter and not politically motivated.

“The old Janata Dal family is coming back together. I feel that there will be a great change in the political scenario when the entire family comes together. However, our marriage is a purely personal affair and has nothing to do with politics,” Tej Pratap told the media.

“Only the future can tell us what wonders the coming together of Mulayam Singh Yadav and Lalu Prasad Yadav will bring. We are confident the SP and the RJD will do well in the coming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar,” he added.

Speaking on his marriage, Tej Pratap confirmed that talks were initiated by Mulayam and Lalu.

“The talks were initiated by Mulayam ji and lalu ji. Only after that have they gone on. In our family, we always listen to what our elders say and whatever they decide, we follow. If both parties find the match acceptable, then the talks of marriage will move forward,” he stated. (ANI)
