Senior Congress leader and former minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy has addressed a letter to AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi stating that there was an urgent need to take tough decisions to strengthen the party at the national level. He also mentioned his suggestions in the letter as to what sort of steps must be taken to strengthen the party.
At a press conference here on Thursday, Shashidhar Reddy released the letter to the media. In the letter, Marri reminded the party high command that the Party faced defeat in the elections held even after 2014 general elections. Making it clear that the Congress party only faced the BJP effectively, Marri said the party faced same conditions in 1992 and then party high command implemented Kamaraj Formula to cleanse the party.
There was a need to introduce Kamaraj Formula-2 to cleanse the party, he opined. He urged the high command to give full liberty to Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 elections by tendering resignations to CWC positions. He asked the high command to send back the leaders stayed for several years in Delhi to their native places and take responsibility of strengthening the party. There was a serious need to prepare strong leadership in the Congress party, he opined.
Opining that there was a need to change the party in-charges of all the States, Shashidhar said the high command must take care on cleansing the party in the State level. He said the Congress was facing ruling TRS party in an effective manner and exuded confidence that the party would come back to power in 2019 elections in the State. (NSS)
