Maria upset over charges by Vinita Kamte

Mumbai, November 27: Under fire from widow of a slain police official in the 26/11 attacks, Mumbai’s Crime Branch Chief Rakesh Maria is upset over the allegations against him and has conveyed it to the Maharashtra government while reportedly threatening to quit.

Home Minister R R Patil said no resignation letter has been received by his ministry while Maria, who met the Police Commissioner and senior officials, refrained from making any comments.

“Maria is upset with the allegations levelled against him and met me recently as he wanted to clarify the circumstances,” Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Chandra Iyengar told reporters here.

“He approached me and I will have to consult the Chief Minister and the Home Minister,” she said.
