Maoists threaten Assembly Speaker against forceful acquisition of lands from farmers

Hyderabad: Maoists wrote a threatening letter to Mr. Madhusudhana Chary, Speaker of Telangana Assembly against the forceful acquisition of lands from farmers in Bhupalpally area for mining.

Speaker’s two sons have also been threatened, saying that the open cast mining in Bhupalpally should be stopped immediately and the lands acquired should be given back to farmers.

According to the details given by the Maoists, 1500 acres were acquired in the first phase and mining was started. At that time TRS had registered its protest and demanded action against it. This incident took place 10 years back. Now that TRS is in power, no action is being taken in this regard.

Since Mr. Chari represents Bhupalpally, this threat has been posed to him. Intelligence agencies are taking this threat seriously as for the first time an important political leader has come under the threat. It also indicates that Maoists are increasing their activities.

The officials of police department say that in CPI (M), there are only 140 persons. Most of them have gone underground in Chhattisgarh forests. Police and Intelligence Agencies are worried about this threat.
