Maoists regrouping in Andhra Pradesh!

Hyderabad, October 19: The CPI (Maoist) documents found by the Special Intelligence Branch reveals that the top Maoist leadership is concentrating on reviving the movement in Andhra Pradesh. Maoists have decided to set up more guerrilla zones and transfer guerrilla zones in the base areas and red resistance zones. The SIB of the state police which was involved in anti-naxal operations in several states is among the top targets of the Maoists, officials said.

Sources in the state police said that the top Maoist leader, Mr Mupalla Lakshmana Rao, alias Ganapathi was working at the national level to revive the party in Andhra Pradesh.

The Maoist top leadership which accepted Greyhounds as a superior force in their documents, has stated that the setback is temporary and they would bounce back against the state. A senior police official said: “Maoists are claiming that it is a temporary retreat of their forces from some regions of Andhra Pradesh and that they want to develop bases in the surrounding regions before hitting back.”

The recent spurt in Maoist attacks in North Telangana is an indication that they are reviving their movement in the state, officials said.

At least 60 Maoists led by the top naxal Chandranna alias Pulluri Prasada Rao are now active in North Telangana districts resorting to a series of crimes after a long silence. Police say there would be another 50 of them active in three districts of the state near Orissa border.
