Bihar, August 13: Armed Maoists today kidnapped a local leader of the ruling JD(U) from Beninagar in Bihar’s Naxal-hit Gaya district, police said.
Lakhan Ram Verma, also close associate of Assembly Speaker U N Choudhary, was followed and overpowered by the Maoists at an isolated place and taken away into the forest.
Raids were being carried out in the area to rescue Verma, they added.
