Kathmandu, January 26: Nepali Maoists have asked India’s GMR Energy, which is building a hydro power project in Dailekh in western Nepal, to stop construction and leave the country.
Maoists on Monday rallied at the site of the 300-MW Upper Karnali Hydro Power plant and asked the Bangalore-based infrastructure company to pack up from the site.
The rally was addressed by Maoist leaders, including their politburo member Dharmendra Banstola and local leader Khadga Bahadur B K.
Following the rally, a press conference was organised in western Nepal warning GMR of dire consequences if the company did not heed to the request of stopping all work at the site by Sunday, sources close to GMR said.
