Maoists dump recovered in Nallamalla forests

Hyderabad, October 15: Police today unearthed a cache of arms that had been dumped by the banned CPI (Maoists) and recovered three guns, 23 revolver rounds and other material in Nallamalla forest area of Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district.

Acting on a tip-off, Kothapalli Police searched the Kolanbharati hillock in the Nallamalla forests and seized the dump that contained three single barrel guns, 23 revolver rounds, two bundles of fuse wire used for landmines, one kit bag and maoist literature, District Superintendent of Police, Kurnool, Ch Srikant told PTI over phone.

Another police officer said the maoist literature is likely to have been dated between 1999-2003.

Further investigations are underway, police said.
