Kathmandu, January 24: Formation of a Maoist-led national government in Nepal is a ‘must’ for successful completion of the peace process and drafting of the Constitution, a top party leader said today, warning of fresh stir if their demands are not met.
The Maoist demands may lead to a new political stalemate in the country. Calling off their indefinite strike from today, Maoist vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai also stressed on the need for democratisation of the Nepal Army and integration of Maoist combatants into it.
He deplored the Defence Minister’s recent remark against integration of the Maoist combatants.
Bhattarai said, without the involvement of the Maoists, as they had secured 40 per cent votes during the Constituent Assembly polls, the constitution making and peace processes will not be completed.
