Maoists changing their attack style, say police

Kolkata, November 09: Police say Maoists are adopting new methods of attack, following the deadly assault on four EFR jawans yesterday by armed people in plain clothes at Gidhni in West Midnapore district.

The jawans were sipping tea at a local stall when the attackers in plain clothes and undistinguishable from common people suddenly attacked them.

“Generally, the Maoists move in army fatigues which enable them to be identified. But according to information available, the three persons were clothed in ordinary dresses and they mingled with common people,” a senior district police officer told PTI on condition on anonymity.

The officer said the jawans, who have their camp near the market, interacted often with the local people to gain their confidence.
