Maoists are terrorists: Raman Singh

Chattisgarh, May 19: Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, speaking on stategy to tackle the maoist menance, termed Maoists as the biggest terrorists.

Singh further said that naxals are spreading terror among the innocent civilians to fulfill their agenda.

He was addressing a press conference in national capital.

Singh insisted that naxals are not just eyeing on few states, but they are focusing whole nation. The whole nation is bearing the consequences of naxal activities.

He expressed incompetence in using air strikes due to the dense forests.

“it is not possible to go for bombing in those areas which are covered by dense forest. The army helicopter can be used only for rescue and relief operations.” Singh said.

He also hinted the link between naxals and lashkar-e-taiba.

Singh called ‘maoism’ the worst form of terrorism.

“It is the worst form of terrorism. One thousand civilians have been killed in the last 10 years,” Singh told reporters here.

The chief minister, who reached New Delhi Wednesday morning and is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh later in the day, said the Maoist problem cannot be tackled overnight.

“We need to be prepared for a long-drawn war. But we are moving in the right direction,” he said.
