Bokaro (Jharkhand), March 11: A Maoist leader and his arms supplier were arrested today and a huge cache of arms and ammunition besides explosives recovered from them along Bokaro-Hazaribagh border in Jharkhand.
In a joint raid by the CRPF and the state police the CPI (Maoists) self-styled sub-zonal commander Bhubaneswar Mahato and his supplier of arms, Quttubudin, were arrested at a place along the border with Hazaribagh district, Bokaro SP Saket Kumar Singh told newsmen here.
A total of 1,250 kg of explosives, 50 detonators, 235 kg wire, two rifles, a large number of bullets, two grenades, a water storage tank, a bike, Rs four lakh and Maoist literature were found at the place where the duo was arrested, he said.
“He (Mahato) is a big catch and this is a major haul for the police,” Singh said.
