Maoist couple with Rs 8 lakh bounty surrenders in Telangana

Bhadradri Kothagudem: A Maoist couple carrying a total bounty of Rs 8 lakh on their head, surrendered before Telangana police on Tuesday.

The couple which gave up arms before Bhadradri Kothagudem police were carrying cash reward of Rs 4 lakh each on their heads.

The man was identified as Sodi Narasimha Rao, a 30-year-old, surrendered before police along with his wife Podium Sanni.

“Sodi Narasimha Rao, active as Area Committee Member (ACM) in Indravelli Khanapur of Mangi area in Maoist party and his wife Podium Sanni, a 25-year-old, active as ACM of Korkatapadu area have surrendered before Bhadradri Kothagudem police,” Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt said in a press conference.

According to police, Rao has joined the Maoist party in 2007 and was promoted as Khanpur-Mangi Area Committee secretary in 2017. He took part in several exchanges of fire between Maoists and police at various places including Rangapur in Warangal in 2015. His wife Sanni had joined the Maoist party in 2013.

The SP said that both ultras surrendered as they desired to live a normal life. As per the surrender policy, the duo was handed over cash reward as immediate relief.
