The first day of the 48 Hours bandh called by Maoists of the Andhra-Orissa Border (AOB) and North Coastal Andhra to protest against ‘Operation Greenhunt’ evoked no response and passed off peacefully.
There was no response to the bandh and no untoward incidents in all the 11 mandals in the 11 Mandal of Tribal agency area in the District. According to Rural police said. Government offices, schools and commercial establishments were functioned as usual, except in Paderu mandal, where 35 per cent of commercial establishments remained closed. Though Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) buses plied their fleet in the agency area, they suspended their night services, police added. UNI
