On receiving several complaints against petrol bunk dealers in the State, Civil Supplies Commissioner C.V. Anand took severe action against petrol bunks immediately for short supply of petrol and diesel to consumers. The complainants reported that petrol bunks were committing fraud by pouring less quantity of fuel to customers in various parts of the State.
The Commissioner immediately formed a special Enforcement team with officials of Civil Supplies Department and made surprise checks on the petrol bunks throughout the State. Raids were continued for five days from May 16 to 20. During the raids, 567 petrol pumps were inspected and registered 14 cases of short delivery and nine other cases.
In Hyderabad Zone, 49 petrol pumps and in Nalgonda Zone 125 pumps were inspected and no illegal practice was reported. In Ranga Reddy Zone, 33 pumps were inspected and five pumps were booked for short supply of fuel and one pump in other case. In Nizamabad Zone, a total of 94 petrol pumps were inspected and one short delivery case and two other cases were booked. In Karimnagar Zone, 152 pumps were inspected and six cases were booked for short delivery of fuel and two other cases.
