Many IAS officers seek deputation to Centre

Senior bureaucrats are perturbed on the discriminatory attitude of the State Govt. in targeting only the IAS officers for various scams leaving the top politicians. They have a feeling of insecurity. Most of them prefer seeking deputation to Central Govt. positions or they want to go on leave.

It may be noted that in various scams, no action has since been taken against the ministers and other politicians. In Gali Janardhana Reddy’s obulapuram mining scam a senior IAS officer Ms. Y. Sreelakshmi, former Home Secretary Mr. B.P. Acharya and Ms. Ratna Prabha have been sent to jail. Their assets are also been checked.

Taking into consideration, all these circumstances, most of the senior bureaucrats are afraid of discharging their duties freely. They are also least interested in administration. Some of them have sought deputation to foreign countries.

It is said that the quota of the IAS officers allotted to AP is 295, out of which 35 IAS officers are serving Govt. of India in Delhi on deputation. Some of them are not prepared to function even as Principal Secretary or Secretary because they have to work under pressure from the ministers.

There is a shortage of 20% officers in the state cadre. State Govt. has requested the Central Govt. to allot 56 IAS officers to the State. CM has written to Govt. of India in this regard. It is expected that the Central Govt. will depute non-IAS cadre officers to fill the gap.

The sources indicated that orders have already been issued for the deputation of a few IAS officers to Delhi but the State Govt. is reluctant to relieve them in view of the shortage of IAS officers in the state.
