MANUU students selected for Gandhi Fellowship Programme

Hyderabad: Two students from the Social Work Department of Maulana Azad National Urdu University have been selected for the prestigious Gandhi Fellowship held recently.

The candidates who qualified for the recruitment process are Shah Ney Alam and Mohd Ikram. Three other students–Haseebur Rahman, Safiur Rahman and Mohd Rehan have been waitlisted.

The selection process was conducted by Piramal Foundation. Gandhi Fellowship is a highly sought after internship-cum-job programme for young graduates who are given a good package of honorarium and other benefits. The graduates and post graduates from institutions such as IITs took part in this programme.

For the past few years, the students of Department of Social Work are also participating and qualifying for this fellowship programme.

The selection process for this fellowship consists of three phases. In the first phase, the candidates apply online in the format prescribed by the organization. In the second phase, based on the merit of online application, the organization conducts telephonic interview of selected candidates. In the final phase, the selected candidates are called for the last round of the process.

This time Piramal Foundation had invited 17 candidates from different institutions of South India for the final round of selection. Five of these students were from the Master of Social Work (MSW) programme, MANUU. Two of these students–Shah Ney Alam and Mohd Ikram–qualified the recruitment process whereas three others– Haseebur Rahman, Safiur Rahman and Mohd Rehan were waitlisted.
