Maulana Azad National Urdu University paid rich tributes to it’s Second Chancellor and Eminent Biologist Prof. Obaid Siddiqui, who passed away recently. A Condolence meeting was held on Monday. Dr. Khwaja Shahid Vice Chancellor I/c presided over.
Paying tribute to the bereaved on behalf of Prof. Mohd. Miyan, Vice Chancellor, he described Prof. Siddiqui as a true lover of Urdu Language and Culture. He has left indelible marks during the formative stages of this University.
Prof. Siddiqui was appointed as second chancellor of MANUU in July 2005. He succeeded Former Prime Minister I. K. Gujral. Prof. Siddiqui was a Biologist par excellence, whose expertise was the recognized in India & abroad equally. He was bestowed Padma Bhushan & Padma Vibhushan by Government of India in recognition to his services.
Dr. Khwaja Shahid described the demise of Prof. Obaid as irreparable loss to MANUU. Prof. S. M. Rahmatullah, Registrar read out the condolence message on behalf of the University. MANUU owes a lot to this inspiring personality, he said.
