Students and research scholars of Maulana Azad National Urdu University staged protest throughout the day against the attitude of university authorities. Students blocked all roads to leading to administrative block and virtually gheraoed the building. Later the university main gate was also closed as a result university staff were confined in the university for quite a long time. Regulations are being implemented in the name of hostel reforms, for the first time after the inception of the university. Students have been directed to vacate hostel rooms during summer vacations. It must be noted that research scholars are permitted to stay in the hostel during vacation in any university but the new Vice Chancellor Dr. Aslam Parvaiz who claims to be student friendly has increased difficulties of students.
Demanding roll back of orders to vacate rooms, Research Scholars staged dharna through out the day in front of the Vice Chancellor’s office and at University main gate.
According to Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, draft regulations of Hostel Manual 2016-17 have been approved in a meeting attended by the Deans and Heads of the Departments. Students need to vacate their rooms before proceeding on summer vacations so as to enable fresh allotment. University has asked the students to submit a fresh application for availing hostel facility during the new academic year.
The question arises if the research scholars want to carry out research work while staying in Hyderabad where would they stay, if they are not allowed to stay in hostel.
