New Delhi, Aug.30 : Addressing the nation in his 11th Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted the various programmes of financial inclusion launched by the BJP Government.
“Over 11 crore families have joined in the social security schemes,” the Prime Minister said.
Expressing happiness over the success of the Jan Dhan Yojana, Modi said, “nearly 17 crore 74 lakh bank accounts have been opened and 22 thousand crore rupees was deposited within one year of this scheme.”
“Around one lakh 31 thousand financial literacy camps have been put up this year to join the banking sector, economy and the poor people,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi also urged the people not to discontinue their saving bank accounts in the banks.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a national mission for financial inclusion to ensure access to financial services, namely, banking/ savings and deposit accounts, remittance, credit, insurance, Pension in an affordable manner. (ANI)
