Mankotia to start crusade against corruption

Shimla, April 12: Former Himachal Congress minister Vijay Singh Mankotia who had announced his retirement from politics after his defeat in 2007 Assembly polls today said he has decided come out of his “self imposed exile” and return to active public life by joining a crusade against corruption.

Mankotia told reporters that he was inspired by anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare and strongly felt that he should join the fight instead of remaining “indifferent”.

He said in May he would formally launch an agitation to mobilise public opinion against corruption with focus on youth, ex-servicemen and civil society under the banner of ‘Adalat-e-Awam’, founded by him after announcing retirement from politics four year ago.

“My crusade against corruption would be totally non-party and non-political and at present I am not sure whether I will enter electoral politics again,” he said.
