Mankind must change attitude to ensure green India: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged citizens to change their attitude to ensure a greener India and better world for themselves and for the generations to follow.

Speaking on the occasion of World Environment Day, he urged Indians to grow trees as well as take care of nature, terming the care for the natural world as the duty of every citizen.

“June 5 is celebrated as the World Environment Day throughout the world. Our ancestors took care of the nature for us and we should do it for the future generations. It is our duty and responsibility of everyone to uphold the cause of nature. The way we are proud of our material possessions we should be proud of our tree. I request people to grow plants and trees and we should proud of it,” the Prime Minister said.

“Until humans change their attitude, we will see more threats to nature. All human beings have to be responsible,” he added.

Earlier in the day, he also planted a Kadamb sapling at the lawns of his official 7, Race Course Road residence.

The Prime Minister also placed an earthen pot with the sapling, which is a traditional way of ensuring that the sapling has a regular water supply. (ANI)
