Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai all set to take charge as ministers

Aam Aadmi Party leaders Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai and Satyendra Jain on Saturday appeared all set to take charge as the new ministers in the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi cabinet.

“It is a very big day! So much respect, so much responsibility! Lord, please give us strength to overcome ego and greed. I wish my mother and father were here today. I know they are always with me. Every minute,” tweeted Sisodia, who will be the capital’s first deputy chief minister.

Gopal Rai, who is tipped to be the next transport and labour minister, said the party was gearing up to undertake the honest work culture that it spearheaded in its 49 -day stint at power last year.

“The campaign of good intention and honest work culture that we undertook in the 49 day government, we will take that forward,” he added.

Another party leader Satyendra Jain, who handled the Health and Industry portfolios in the earlier AAP government and could retain the same portfolio now, visited a temple early morning.

He said the priority of the new government was to fulfil the promises it had made to the people.

“All 67 MLAs will be given responsibilities, priority is to fulfill promises that we made to the people,” said Jain.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal will be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Delhi today.

He will be administered the oath of office and secrecy by Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung at the Ramlila ground at 12 noon.

Six other Aam Aadmi Party leaders – Manish Sisodia, Asim Ahmed Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai and Jitender Singh Tomar will also be sworn-in as ministers.

Kejriwal is expected to keep the key portfolios of Home, Power and Finance with himself, while giving Education, PWD and Urban Development to his confidante Manish Sisodia, who will also be the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi.
