New Delhi [India] Mar. 15 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, who today left for Manipur to attend the swearing-in ceremony, had to return to the national capital following a technical glitch in the flight.
BJP’s Nongthombam Biren Singh will later in the day take oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur.
The BJP chief and several Union Ministers were scheduled to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
The party, which won 21 seats, made a bid for power claiming it has the support of 33 legislators in the 60-member assembly.
Biren Singh, who was elected unanimously as the leader of the BJP legislature party, later staked claim to form the government after meeting the Governor.
The Congress had emerged as the largest party in the state winning 28 seats, but the party fell short of majority. (ANI)
