New Delhi, July 02: If you relish eating mango then this is one festival you should not miss.
The annual Mango Festival showcasing over 400 varieties of the fruit was today inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at the Pitampura Dilli Haat here.
Mango cultivators from across the country, particularly from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab are participating in the three-day festival.
“The Mango festival is popular all across the world.
People from different parts of the world come to Delhi to see the mangoes, eat them and even grow them back home,” Dikshit said after inaugurating the festival.
She also complimented the farmers for making the fruit popular across the world. “With names like Aishwarya, Sachin, the farmers have made the fruit even more attractive.” she said. Dikshit also distributed awards to traditional farmers who developed unique varieties of the fruit.
