Mangali among four convicted for Paritala’s assassination bid

The Additional Sessions Court in Anantapur district on Wednesday convicted four accused including Dantuluri Krishna alias Mangali Krishna in the Jubilee Hills bomb blast case of 2001, which was planned to assassinate the then Telugu Desam MLA Paritala Ravi.

While delivering its verdict, the court convicted D Krishna, Ramachandra Reddy, Madhusudana Reddy and Sudhir Reddy of aiding and abetting the incident and granted five years imprisonment to them apart from imposing a fine of Rs 3,000. The court sentenced them under IPC Section 120B and 25 of Arms Act, Section 4B and 5 of explosive Substances Act.

Though the charge sheet was filed against 14 persons in connection with the case, four of them died during the lengthy court proceedings. The court dismissed cases against six accused due to lack of proper evidence while four were convicted.

Meanwhile, Mangali Krishna’s name hit the headlines recently following startling revelations of Bhanu Kiran that Krishna was benami for some of his property deals in the State. The police sources claimed that Krishna provided lethal weapons to Bhanu Kiran.
