Mandhana maiden ton helps India Women set 253-run target against Oz Women

Hobart: Indian Women opener Smriti Mandhana struck a brilliant maiden century as she strengthen her side to a target of 253 runs against Australia Women in the second ODI of the three-match series here at Bellerive Oval on Friday.

Opting to bat first, Mandhana smashed 11 boundaries in her scintillating knock of 102 runs off 109 balls as India Women made 252-8 within their allotted 50 overs.

Skipper Mithali Raj also provided substantial support to her side’s inning by scoring 58 runs, while Shikha Pandey made an unbeaten 33 off 30 balls.

For the hosts, Ellyse Perry and Megan Schutt bagged three and two wickets respectively. Rene Ferrel and Kristen Beams also chipped in with a wicket each.

India Women are currently trailing 0-1 in the series following their 101-run defeat against Australia women in the opening ODI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. (ANI)
