Man, wife arrested with heroin

Chandigarh: A man and his wife have been arrested on charges of heroin possession and negligent driving here, police said today.

Yesterday night, a car, which was being driven in a negligent manner, was signalled to stop by a police team at a check-post, they said.

However, in a bid to escape, the driver rammed his vehicle into two police cars. He was soon apprehended, the police said.

Forty-four gram of heroin and 12 injections of Pheneramine Mealeate were seized from their possession, they claimed.

Surinder Singh, a resident of Mohali, and his wife used to procure the drugs from Delhi for supply here, police said.

They have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, they added.
