On Wednesday from west Delhi’s inderpuri, a 32-year-old auto driver was hacked to death with an axe by two persons.
The incident took place around 10-40 p.m. when the victim, later identified as Harish Kumar, had gone to a dairy parlour near his home to buy milk, according to the police.
The police are investigating the role of the neighbor as alleged by the family members. The victim’s family suspects the involvement of a neighbor with whom the man had an enmity for the past five years.
A police officer said, “While returning, he was attacked with an axe. He collapsed on the spot. The dairy shop owner saw it and informed the victim’s family about the murder.”
The officer added, quoting an eyewitness’ statement, “The attackers escaped immediately after striking Harish once on his head. But there were many people near the crime spot at that time, so they had to leave the axe on the spot.”
Harish was lying unconscious on the floor in a pool of blood. He was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Based on the documents he was carrying with him, at the time of the incident, his identity was established and the family members were informed,’ a police officer said.
