Man wanted in robbery cases arrested

Mumbai, March 21: An alleged robber, who claims to be a modern day Robinhood, was today arrested after being on the run for several years, police said.

Mani Kandan (36), wanted in over 15 cases of robbery and house breaking cases, was today arrested by the suburban Chembur unit of the city police.

“Mani has told his interrogators that he considers himself to be Robinhood who steals from the rich and distributes the loot amongst the needy and poor,” a senior police officer said.

He used to loot people from housing societies in Mankhurd, Shivaji Nagar and Deonar in suburban Mumbai, he said.

“He had told us that he used to distribute the looted sum to a few teenage boys who used to work with him and to some beggars,” the officer added.
